It’s my birthday on Friday, and as usual, the anniversary of my birth has stirred up some thought-provoking inner monologues….
One of which is a list of things accomplished since my last birthday:
(This is the abridged version, of course.)
1. I’m still in love and we’re actually going really strong! (More than one year together!!!! And they said it wouldn’t last!)
2. I went to Hawaii for the first time. (And discovered I can be a good nurse if needed!)
3. I learned how to make jewelry and started a tiny jewelry business. (Hopefully it won’t be tiny forever!)
4. I spent a wonderful summer in Canada (Saw hundreds of whales! Road a ferry for the first time! Did some sailing! Saw gorgeous places! Camped! Hiked! Saw Cirque du Soleil! Dog Sat! Took care of my man! ’Twas an overall love fest!)
5. I finally spent some time working on my French! (Oui Oui!)
6. I took an art class!
7. I got into much better shape.
8. I learned how to windsurf! (Woo hoo! Fabulous yet Frustrating sport!)
9. I got my first speeding ticket. (Grrrrr! Who am I kidding, it was bound to happen!)
10. I improved my photography. (I actually now know a lot about “theory” which is really important!)
11. I did a ton of yoga. (Thank you ‘Chaturanga Dandasana for my slim toned arms!)
12. I was an overall cool chick. (I firmly believe in Karma.)
13. I read some good books. (And I read some bad books.)
14. I made sure I was “up to date” with the IRS!
15. I realized that giving someone a chance (if you love them) is a good thing. (Two chances: no way!)
16. I also realized that road trips, with your honey and some good music are AWESOME!
17. I learned how to cook! (Spending the summer with a man who gets grumpy when he’s hungry will make you a good cook VERY QUICKLY!
) )
18. I realized that I can only take so much, and if I’m not happy, I have to do something about it or eliminate the problem.
19. I had some nice times with my family (And I developed a really nice relationship with my love’s family.)
20. I loved. I learned. I was hurt. I was disappointed. I laughed. I cried. (happy and sad tears) I had bad moments and I had some amazing/take your breath away moments. And overall, I think today I’m a better person than I was one year ago.
